Interview is one of the most common nightmares for someone who desperately needs a job. There are lots of things that could get on selected for next levels of interview. If one gets to the final round of Interview, then there is more probability for the person landing the job. But on the other hand, one needs to ensure that they avoid certain things in their final interview and retain the positive vibe they carried till the final interview.

10. Being late to the Interview:
There is no wonder in having this point But the question is why this point has the least priority when you might have expected it to be among top five? It’s quite simple. This is one of the major things that people have kept on saying for decades and now everyone is quite aware that they need to be early to an interview (at least on the day of interview) so that they don’t miss out their chance. If everyone is well aware of this and don’t do this should it be kept in the list? Umm.. Well I still think its yes for there are still people who turn up late for interviews even after they realize or might not realize the importance of it. And the worst part is the lame reason for their late arrival. Never ever turn up late to an Interview which gives a clear reason for them to reject you, though you may possess the skills.
9. Wrong Judgement
In most of the cases it’s too difficult to judge the mindset of the interviewer. Just because you were asked doesn’t mean that you need to answer it. Sometimes the question would be so tricky that it would be asked to test if you try to attempt something stupid like bluntly saying things which shows your negative attitude. Sometimes it could be to test if you genuinely accept the truth and show interest to learn it. So try to judge the interviewer and answer accordingly.
8. Irrelevant answers:
Be specific on your points on what you are communicating in the interview. Just because you are given a chance doesn’t mean that you could speak things that weren’t asked. Giving some practical examples to substantiate your point is good if that clearly conveys what needs to be conveyed. Answering irrelevantly could turn out to be a negative impression, making the recruiter think that it’s hard for you to understand things and would never want to continue the interview more as you can’t understand what they were trying to communicate with you. Talking pointlessly shows you do not value your time or that of others, a poor quality in any human being.
7. Lying to impress the recruiter:
This is something which no recruiter would be pleased with. Lying to impress the recruiter would immediately give them a valid reason to chuck you as it marks a bad impression. It shows that you were trying to play around and fool them with your lies, prove that you are clever enough. Also they might have seen hundreds of employees in interviews and they could easily predict if you lie and there wouldn’t be a way to hide your lies. So it’s better to be honest.
6. Sounding smarter:
There are many cases where one tries to act smart, as if he knows anything and everything which leaves a bad taste about that person in minds of the recruiter. In other words trying to sound very smart also makes you a show off, it shows that you assume to possess superior and dominating character. Smart person never shows off and so avoid showing off in the interview.
5. Acting fake:
Acting fake before the recruiter in the interview would surely make them to figure out your falseness. Recruiters would have interviewed hundreds of people and so they can easily track if you try to act in an unusual or fake way before them by the way you act and speak to them. That leaves an impression that even your works would be unreal, Thus they have a clear reason to avoid you. Be genuine in your interview. Show that you are in reality. This will take you a long way.
4. Showing more negativity:
It’s obvious for every employer to find someone who carries positive attitude with them which would yield positive work being done and helps in the growth of the company. So avoid being negative in your words and be careful while conversing with the recruiter. Avoid negative words like don’t, can’t, not possible, difficult, hard and so on. These words reflect your character and thought process about the work. Avoid these kinds of words and use as much as positive words as you can.
3. Lacking Enthusiasm:
Perhaps it’s important to show the recruiter that you are full of energy and has capability to do works that would be assigned to you. The enthusiasm that you show reflects your likeliness and passion towards your work. Lack of enthusiasm shows your disinterest towards that work. Also it gives an impression that you were just there for the job unconditionally and truly don’t have interest towards it. So show that you are more interested to do the job and gain their trust.
It’s very important to gather the data before attending the interview about the company’s profile and their motto and what are they aiming at and what were the types of questions being questioned in the previous interview. It’s also important to be strong with the basics and other things relevant to the job role. Also one needs to have done research on what is the market of the company and how they could improve and various other things. Being unprepared about these would surely get you rejected as the employer would always expect someone who clearly understands about the company’s goal and work for the betterment of it.
1. Disclosing Confidential things:
Many of the smart and good talented ones get rejected because they disclose more things that are supposed to be kept confidential. For instance if one has the plans of doing masters after the job it shouldn’t be disclosed in the interview. Many a times, one discloses their study plans after the job, or their plans to do a business after the job which leaves a very bad remark to the recruiter as their concern would be to hire someone who works for the company in the long-run to uplift the progress of company’s development. Also if you had previous working experience, it’s bad to disclose the confidential things about your previous company or about your previous employer as they could clearly see you as a non-trustworthy person and have a clear reason to reject you. So it’s important to not disclose any controversial things and keep your goals, ambitions and other confidential things to yourself.
