“Chick flicks” is a term that refers to a genre of movies that are dramatic and high on emotional content. They are usually made to target the psyche of a female viewer to make them relate to issues that men have less idea about. They might or might not be a romantic but they usually revolve around Love, marriage, family, men, separation, issues related to the self and bonds. Even though they target the females on a large scale, the male audience is not totally untouched by them. These movies may be a romantic comedy, a dramatic romantic,a movie with a sad ending, a piece of fiction or a fashion movie, but they go deeper than the genre, and make the viewer somehow restore their faith in Love and hope.

10. The Devil Wears Prada
A naive young woman, Andrea Sachs, a college graduate played by Anne Hathaway, comes to New York and scores a job as the assistant to one of the city’s biggest magazine editors, the ruthless and cynical Miranda Priestly played by Meryl Streep. The Devil Wears Prada is a 2006 comedy-drama film and is based on a book by Lauren Weisberger of the same name. Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci co-star, as co-assistant Emily Charlton and Art Director Nigel, respectively. It talks about the stiffness of fashion industry and how a woman who once ridiculed the fashionable mannequin-like dumb people eventually becomes the same person and with many difficulties realizes this. She spoils her relationship because of this but eventually comes back to her senses and finds a job suitable to her and also tries to mend her broken relationship.
9. Definitely Maybe
This is a movie with a father who tells her daughter a story about the three girls in his life, by which her daughter guesses who is her mother. Will Hayes played by Ryan Reynolds is a 38-year-old father who is in the midst of a divorce. After her first sex-ed class, his 10-year-old daughter Maya played by Abigail Breslin insists on hearing the story of how her parents met. Will gives in, but decides to change the names and some of the facts relating to the three major love affairs of his youth, thereby creating a love mystery where Maya is left guessing which of the women will turn out to be her mother. The story he tells Maya is depicted in long flashbacks. From time to time the film switches back to the present, where Maya comments and asks questions and guesses who her mother is. Emily by Elizabeth Banks, Summer Hartley played by Rachel Weisz and April is played by Isla Fisher. Even though Maya discovers that Emily is her mother she feels that her father still loves April and re-unites them. It is a movie that deals with major relationship problems and true love.
8. Confessions of a Shopaholic
It is a movie about a girl who loves to shop and shops a lot. Rebecca Bloomwood is the central character played by Isla Fisher who in a very emotional way, shops till she is left broke and in debt. She runs away from the person who lends her money and falls in love with her boss, Luke.She also starts writing articles on this subject and becomes extremely famous as the girl in the green scarf. Amid all shopping she gets in trouble with her to be married best friend Suze. She, however realizes that real security does not come with money or pretty clothes but with happy people around you. Rebecca’s clothes sale makes it possible for her to pay her debts. She attends Suze’s wedding after reclaiming her bridesmaid dress and works at Luke’s new company.
A pushy boss forces her young assistant to marry her in order to keep her Visa status in the U.S. and avoid deportation to Canada. Margaret Tate played by Sandra Bullock is an executive editor in chief of a book publishing company who persuades her assistant Andrew Paxton played by Ryan Reynolds to marry her in order to keep her Visa active. Andrew agrees to save his career and they both travel to Sitika in Alaska where they eventually do fall in love and do not realize. Both of them in the end realize and decide to stay together. It is a must watch on the chick flick list.
6. Friends with Benefits
Jamie Rellis played by Mila Kunis, is an executive recruiter for a job agency in New York City and Dylan Harper is played by Justin Timberlake who works as an art director for a small internet company in Los Angeles. Jamie has the task of trying to recruit Dylan to interview for a job with GQ and begin working in New York City. At first Dylan is hesitant to accept and move from Los Angeles to New York, but in an effort to get Dylan to accept the job, Jamie spends the evening taking him around town trying to sell him on the opportunity and the city. They both get intimate without realizing the complications of having sex without attachments. They eventually fall in love and Dylan realizes how he really feels about Jamie after this talk with his father and decides to go after her. He calls Jamie’s mother to set up an excuse to get Jamie to go to Grand Central Station thinking she will be picking her mother up and arranges to have a flash mob scene set up to surprise Jamie at the station. When the moment comes he catches up with Jamie and tells her how he really feels. After sharing a passionate kiss, Dylan suggests it is time they go on their first real date.
5. A walk to remember
A prank on fellow high-school student Clay Gephardt goes wrong, popular but rebellious Landon Carter played by Shane West, is threatened with expulsion. His punishment is a mandatory participation in various activities, such as the drama club, where he is forced to interact with quiet, kind and bookish Jamie Sullivan played by Mandy Moore who is a girl he has known for many years but to whom he has rarely ever spoken. Their social statures are poles apart. They start spending more time and fall in love. Afterwards, Landon and Jamie begin a relationship in which Landon dedicates most of his time to her. He discovers that she has a wish list, and sets out to make all her ambitions come true. Jamie is diagnosed with cancer and all her wishes are fulfilled by Landon. She dies after Landon tells her how he will always feel love.
This movie is based on a beautiful girl who is different from others just because she was raised differently. She decides to track the owner of the box and spends her life making others happy and finds pleasures in these happy- doings.

The story revolves between Ethan Hawke as Jesse Wallace and Julie Delpy as Céline who are perfect strangers and start talking in a train journey. They both spend little time in the train and Jesse persuades Celine to get on with him on time withe Vienna station, because he loves spending time with her. Celine and Jesse walk in Vienna and The two characters’ ideas and perspectives on life and love are detailed. Jesse is a romantic disguised as a cynic, and Céline is seemingly a romantic, albeit with some doubts. Taking place over the course of one night, their limited time together is always on their minds, and leads to their revealing more about themselves than they normally would, since both believe they will never see one another again.They, however understand each other more than anyone would and feel sad to separate. The film ends the next day at the train station, where the two hastily agree to meet together at the same place in six months as the train is about to leave and they both go their different ways.

The genre of this movie is dramatic romance and is based on a novel by Nicholas Sparks. An old sick woman is recited a story by a man in an hospital about a couple who loved each other and got separated. Only after reading the whole story she understood that it was about her and that she keep forgetting her own story and people around her because of old age. She and her husband then wonder if their love is strong enough to make them leave the world together. The next day, a nurse finds both of them dead on a single hospital bed, with hands in each other’s hands. It is one of the most loved chick flicks because of the high emotinal content.
Titanic is a movie which is loved by men and women alike. Apart from love and independence it focuses on the society differences and aspects like death that cannot be escaped. A 100-year-old woman named Rose DeWitt Bukater tells the story to her grand-daughter Lizzy Calvert, Brock Lovett, Lewis Bodine, Bobby Buell and Anatoly Mikailavich on the Keldysh about her life, on a ship called Titanic when young she, being from the upper class society boards the departing ship with the upper-class passengers and her mother, Ruth DeWitt Bukater, and her fiancé, Caledon Hockley. Meanwhile, an artist named Jack Dawson and his best friend Fabrizio win third-class tickets to the ship in a game. They both meet on the deck. She falls in love with Jack because he made her feel independent and free which she could never feel in her upper class society. The ship hits an Iceberg and collapses. Most people of the lower class tickets die and few rich people are saved in extra boats. Jack dies and Rose survives. And she explains the whole story from departure to her love until the death of Titanic on its first and last voyage April 15th, 1912.
