The average life expectancy of humans now-a-days is about 70 years. This has reduced from the average life expectancy of 100 years many years back. This is because the people these days are a little less concerned about the health and a little more concerned about other non important stuff. This is also because they are involved in fast-food, cold-drinks and not the healthy fruits and vegetables our great-grand parents used to have. This is also because of the growing risk of various types of diseases. But still, in spite of all this, if taken proper care, one can live very long and healthy life. There are just a few things that are needed to be changed. Some the things that you must take care of are mentioned below:

Depression is one of the root causes of diseases, specially in old age. Not only interaction and being socially sound takes you away from depression but has many other benefits. Psychologists have proved that exercises done in a group has more impact on the mind and body instead of exercising alone. Similarly, if you have a company while walking then it will benefit you more instead of just walking alone. If not a group, but you should at least have one regular connection, someone whom you will see daily. This is necessary because they will have your back and will be the first one to notice your health issues and will also take care of you, take you to the hospital and look after you.

Especially if you are old, that is in your fifties, you must take care that you do not worry much. People often worry about the family, the work, even the age and health; but all of this must be stopped. One should not worry unnecessarily and just let the things be. To handle this, there are a lot of practices and therapies. Yoga can do unexpected in this field, meditation can also do wonders in this matters. Even deep breathing for a few minutes will also help to cope up with worries. Just remember to not be neurotic and relax so that you can live for long.

After retirement, one can apply for teaching in primary schools or other jobs such as a trainee at the museum, or even work as senior advisers, senior volunteers, etc. working after retirement helps your body to stay active and prevents the jamming of muscles and thus, in turn avoiding the diseases.

Keeping a habit of things will keep your body in the equilibrium. Equilibrium is very much necessary for the body to stay fit for long. Without equilibrium in the body, it may give up faster. Changing your routine, for example sleeping late, may disturb your body and it becomes harder to bounce back from it. Change in habits may weaken the immune system of your body and this is something you would not want if you want to live longer.

For a long and healthy life, this must be avoided and a fiber-rich breakfast can do wonders in saving you from high blood sugar levels. So, try to have cereals in the breakfast for about four to five days in a week.

But it is not just about gums and healthy mouth. In fact, those bacteria often enter in the blood through the bloodstream. After entering the bloodstream, they can trigger the inflammation of the arteries which in turn increases the risks for heart attacks. Researchers always preach that those all having bacteria in the mouth will have thick arteries and less life expectancy. So, one must visit dentist once in a while and also floss everyday. Flossing everyday is a very essential habit for having a long healthy life.

The important thing to note is that exercising does not mean only going to the gym.
