The average life expectancy of humans now-a-days is about 70 years. This has reduced from the average life expectancy of 100 years many years back. This is because the people these days are a little less concerned about the health and a little more concerned about other non important stuff. This is also because they are involved in fast-food, cold-drinks and not the healthy fruits and vegetables our great-grand parents used to have. This is also because of the growing risk of various types of diseases. But still, in spite of all this, if taken proper care, one can live very long and healthy life. There are just a few things that are needed to be changed. Some the things that you must take care of are mentioned below:

Being with your loved ones, around the friends and family will help you stay on this planet for long. Interacting regularly with others is the best way in which one can avoid depression. Depression is one of the root causes of diseases, specially in old age. Not only interaction and being socially sound takes you away from depression but has many other benefits. Psychologists have proved that exercises done in a group has more impact on the mind and body instead of exercising alone. Similarly, if you have a company while walking then it will benefit you more instead of just walking alone. If not a group, but you should at least have one regular connection, someone whom you will see daily. This is necessary because they will have your back and will be the first one to notice your health issues and will also take care of you, take you to the hospital and look after you.

Especially if you are old, that is in your fifties, you must take care that you do not worry much. People often worry about the family, the work, even the age and health; but all of this must be stopped. One should not worry unnecessarily and just let the things be. To handle this, there are a lot of practices and therapies. Yoga can do unexpected in this field, meditation can also do wonders in this matters. Even deep breathing for a few minutes will also help to cope up with worries. Just remember to not be neurotic and relax so that you can live for long.

A study on the retired people suggests that people start falling sick and die sooner after retirement; whereas those who involve themselves with some other job or work even after retirement tend to live longer. After getting retire, body becomes as rusty as iron. After retirement, one can apply for teaching in primary schools or other jobs such as a trainee at the museum, or even work as senior advisers, senior volunteers, etc. working after retirement helps your body to stay active and prevents the jamming of muscles and thus, in turn avoiding the diseases.

When doctors examined the lives of those who could live upto a century, they noticed that they were a creature of their habits; they got up at the fixed time, slept at a fixed time, ate same kind of food in their whole life and even did same kind of activities. Keeping a habit of things will keep your body in the equilibrium. Equilibrium is very much necessary for the body to stay fit for long. Without equilibrium in the body, it may give up faster. Changing your routine, for example sleeping late, may disturb your body and it becomes harder to bounce back from it. Change in habits may weaken the immune system of your body and this is something you would not want if you want to live longer.

To have a long life, blood sugar must be taken care of. When you get old, you must compulsorily have a serving of grains. Whole-grain plate will make you fight with the blood sugar. Grains are best served in the morning. The reason why blood sugar is to be kept in check is that a rise in the blood sugar level can cause diabetes which accelerated your age. For a long and healthy life, this must be avoided and a fiber-rich breakfast can do wonders in saving you from high blood sugar levels. So, try to have cereals in the breakfast for about four to five days in a week.

One must take care of what he or she is eating. First thing one must always remember is that you have your meals at proper time. Second thing to take care is that whatever you eat is healthy and fresh. Both of the above mentioned points are really necessary to be satisfied. Having the meals on time will keep you young, active and energetic. But if your meals do not have fresh food, there is no chance that you will stay young and instead you will fall sick.

Chewing your food properly not only helps you to completely enjoy the taste of the food but also helps you in staying fit. Researchers studying diabetic patients have seen that habit of not chewing your food properly and swallowing it immediately can increase the risks of diabetes. In order to live a long life, one must definitely try to avoid the risks of diabetes. For this, doctors recommend to eat slowly and chew each bite 20 times before swallowing it. One must keep a habit of putting down the fork or spoon after every bite so as to maintain a slow pace while eating.

If you are trying to add more hours to your day, you might be cutting hours from your night. This practice of cutting down sleeping hours may make you day bigger, but on the other hand, adding a few extra hours for your sleep may add a few extra years to your life. As per the calculations done by great physicists and doctors, a person must sleep for a minimum six hour long duration in a single stretch. The reason why sleeping is so important is that sleep plays a very important role in regulating and heeling cells of our body. Thus, sleeping for the recommended time duration helps us to live for a hundred years and more.

But it is not just about gums and healthy mouth. In fact, those bacteria often enter in the blood through the bloodstream. After entering the bloodstream, they can trigger the inflammation of the arteries which in turn increases the risks for heart attacks. Researchers always preach that those all having bacteria in the mouth will have thick arteries and less life expectancy. So, one must visit dentist once in a while and also floss everyday. Flossing everyday is a very essential habit for having a long healthy life.

All the professionals, physicists, doctors and researchers, all of them believe that to stay young forever, the necessary condition is that you regularly do exercise. Exercising for a body is similar to the oil for a car; it is not compulsory but with oil your car run much better and for long. Doctors have shown through their studies that regular exercise has a long lasting effect on the muscles, bones, brain and also affects the mood of a person. The important thing to note is that exercising does not mean only going to the gym. A person can do exercise in any form, even a simple walk for 30 minutes daily is also okay, or you can yoga, or try some muscle resistance training exercises. The type of exercise a person does depend largely on the physical work he/she does daily and is capable of doing.
