10. LANCE BURTON

William Lance Burton, known as Lance Burton was born on March 10, 1960 in Columbia. He volunteered a magic show of Harry Collins during a christmas party at an age of 5. Thereafter, observing his deep interest in magic, Collin became his mentor. Burton presented his first magic show and won first prize in 1977. Shortly after that, he was awarded “Gold medal of Excellence” from the “International Brotherhood of Magicians”. In the year 1986, he appeared in Nickelodion’s Halloween special Mystery Magical special.
He has won a number of awards and has performed at many stage as well as TV shows.

9. DOUG HENNING

Douglas James Henning was born on May 3, 1947 at Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. He showcased his talent at an age of 14 by performing at a birthday party. He gained so much appreciation and fame by his enchanting magic tricks that he soon became a great entertainer at parties and television shows. One of the most famous illusionist during the1970s and ‘80s, known for his jubilant face with a wonderful smile and curly hair, Doug Henning successfully performed the ‘water torture Escape illusion’ and was nominated for ‘Tony award’ and ‘Emmy award’. He fascinated the viewers at ‘The Magic Show’ and ‘The Tonight Show’ by presenting several illusions and card tricks. It was so disappointing that this great magician passed away at an early age of 52 on February 7, 2000 after suffering for 5 months due to Liver Cancer.

8. HARRY HOUDINI

Harry Houdini, whose real name was Ehrich Weiss came into the world on March 24, 1847. He was born in Budapest, Austria-Hungary and shifted to United States on July 3, 1878, where he was popularly known as Harry. He called himself ‘Harry Houdini’ after he started his career as a professional magician in 1981. He initially performed at museums and circuses. After thoroughly learning the card tricks, Houdini declared himself as “The King of Arts”. He soon became versed with the Escape tricks and is recognized till date for his amazing Escape Acts. He succeeded in foxing the police at Scotland yard when by showing his act of Escape from Handcuffs. It was on October 22, 1926 that he survived blows on his abdomen by a university student. As a result of which he suffered from acute appendicitis and high fever. He took medical care but died shortly on October 31, 1926.

7. DAVID BLAINE
The great street magician and illusionist, David Blaine was born on April 4, 1973 in Brooklyn, New York. He was an outstanding performer at his television shows, David Blaine: Street Magic and David Blaine: Magic Man. He performed his most thriving act in the year 1999, when he kept himself submerged into 4000 pounds of water for over one week. Later in 2000, again this great magician did a audacious job by laying frozen into a block of ice for 72 hours. Followed by this was an act of his two years later in Vertigo in which he stood on a 100-foot pillar for 35 hours. Some of his other fearless magic stunts include staying in a closed glass box for around 44 days and ‘human aquarium’ stunt under which he was kept inside a water filled glass sphere for 7 days. He received air and food through tubes. All these stunts brought him a good deal of appreciation and attention worldwide.

One of the chiefly dominant star of the television, Christopher Nicholas Sarantakos is popularly known by his stage name, Criss Angel. He was born on December 19, 1967 in New York. His interest towards magic was noticeable at an age of 7 when he diligently tried to learn a card trick from his aunt. From then on he practiced magic tricks with dedication and presented his first magic show when he was 12 only. Later on, he studied about the history of magic and magicians. He gave praiseworthy performances at New York’s annual Halloween convention and a show at ‘World Underground theatre’. On a show his admirable acts included his appearing and disappearing and changing a $1 bill to $10 bill. Jeff McBride is an American magician from Monticello, New York who is renowned for his magic tricks mixed with an effect of myth, drama and illusion. He was born on September 11, 1959. Jeff McBride started up a school named, ‘McBride Magic and Mystery school’ to teach the art of stage magic. He was an efficient magician who performed marvelously at nightclubs and concerts. He played a role created for him in a television show “Star Trek-Deep Space Nine”. McBride made world records in ‘most coin rolls in a minute’, ‘most consecutive multi-coin rolls’, ‘one handed card scaling’, ‘106 card scaling at a distance of 12ft within 60 seconds’ and in ’18 consecutive coin rolls within 5 minutes and 43 seconds’. He is the developer of and performer in a live show ‘Magic at the End’.

An Irish Mentalist, Hypnotist and Magician Keith Patrick Barry was born on October 2, 1976. He began admiring magic at the age of 14 when he bought a magic book for himself. He started his career by presenting himself in a television show ‘Close Encounters with Keith Barry’ in 2003. In the year 2004, he performed in the show on MTV entitled ‘Brainwashed’. After that he subsequently gave outstanding performances in various television shows such as ‘The Ellen DeGeneres show’ and ‘The Paul O’ Grady show’ for 4 times. One of his hit shows was ‘The Dark Side’ and he is currently in the show ‘Brain Hacker’ on TV3. He is a skilful magician, a perfect actor and a wonderful host.

Mark Wilson, born in 1929, in an American magician. He began magic when he was just 8 years old. Wilson is known as a major television entertainer for his illusion shows and magic stunts. He is the created of ‘Time for Magic’ and has been the producer at shows like ‘The Magician’, ‘Circus of the Stars’, ‘Hollywood Palace’, ‘The Six Million Dollar Man’, ‘The Incredible Hulk’, ‘Columbo’ and many more. He published his book ‘Mark Wilson’s Complete Course in Magic’ in 1957 and is the author of a few more books on magic. Mark Wilson is a very popular and efficient magician who has been a sensation on television for years and has always fascinated his audiences with his awesome magic.

2. P.C. SORCAR

The world famed influential Indian magician, P.C. Sorcar was born on February 13, 1913. He was a distinguished magician who has performed remarkably in the field of magic. Sorcar, born in the family of magicians, spellbind audiences in India, Japan and several other countries. He established himself by conjuring up the art of Indian magic skills like- the rope trick, the flying carpet and the x-ray eyes. His captivated everyone by showing everything that was thought to be impossible. David Kotkin, known as David Copperfield was born on September 16, 1956 in New Jersey. He was the youngest magician ever to be invited to join the Society of American Magicians, at an age of 12. He taught a course called ‘Art Of Magic’ at the New York University. He was only 18 when he appeared as a lead in the show ‘The Magic Man’ and thereafter at a number of shows daily doing over 500 performances in a year. He gained stardom on television by casting in serials like “The Magic of David Copperfied”. He showed his vast magic talent at television specials in which he walked through the Great Wall of China, escaped from chains just before being thrown into the Niagara Falls and vanished a 45 ton Orient Express Train Car. He is a great magician who has proved that magic is as vast as imagination.
