She was also the brand ambassador to Belgium. She still sits on the board of the company even at the age of 93.

She is also a supporter of a wide range of cultural and educational charities, relating to the arts and international affairs and has received many honorary doctorates and awards recognizing her efforts.

Miuccia Prada, born as Maria Prada on 10th May 1949 in Milan, Italy, is best known for her label Prada and its secondary line Miu Miu. She took over her family’s business in 1978. She and her husband turned this company into a fashion powerhouse making it a billion dollar company with 250 stores in 65 countries and now has a net worth of $ 12.4 billion making her the ninth richest woman in the world. She has revolutionized the fashion world by her fearlessness gaining appreciation from many critics.

She actually graduated with a PhD in political science and attended Teatro Piccolo to study and perform mime for five years.

Abigail Pierrepont Abby Johnson, is the president of Fidelity Investments and one of the most influential American businesswoman. Fidelity Investments was founded by her grandfather Edward C. Johnson II. She has a net worth of $ 12.7 billion and is considered to be one of the most powerful women in finance and a promising person to take over the CEO seat after her father steps down.

Susanne Klatten, born as Susanne Hanna Ursula Quandt on 28th April 1962 in Bad Homburg, Germany, is the daughter of Herbert and Johanna Quandt. She has a net worth of $14.3 billion and is the richest woman in Germany. She had inherited a 12.6 % stake in automaker BMW from her late father Herbert Quandt.

Susanne, her brother Stefan Quandt and mother Johanna Quandt together own nearly 50 % of BMW. She has been elected the new chairperson of the SGL carbon SE Supervising Board. She also controls Chemical Manufacturer Altana and holds stakes in Nordex A G, SGL and Geohumus. In 2012, she bought stakes in the Dutch Biotech Company Paques.

She got unwanted publicity in 2008 due to blackmail by ex- lover Helg Sgarbi threatening to release intimate films unless she paid him 14 million Euros. He was later arrested.

Jacqueline Mars, born on 10th October 1939, is the daughter of Forrest Edward Mars, Sr., and granddaughter of Frank C. Mars, founders of the American candy company Mars, Incorporated. Jacqueline has a net worth of $17 billion and thus makes the sixth person in this list. Mars Incorporated is a company famous for its brands including, Milky Way. M & M’s, 3 Musketeers, Twix, Skittles and Snickers.

Jacqueline and her two brothers John and Forrest Jr., are the third generation to own Mars, Inc. The company was inherited by them in 1999 after the death of their father. Jacqueline is also a trustee of the United States Equestrian Team and also sits on the board of Washington National Opera.

She owns a company called Hancock Prospecting and in 2010s she became the largest shareholder in Fairfax Media and took a significant share in the Ten Network Holdings. She is also listed as the wealthiest person in Australia with a net worth of $17 billion. She got her mining obsession from her father Lang who used to take her even as a child to all his business meetings thus generating an interest in her towards mining, an area that is not usually pursued by many women.

On the downside, she has been creating ripples in media with her blunt views on bettering the Australian economy, which has marred her reputation a lot.

Iris Fontbona, the fourth person in this list was born in 1943. She is a widow of billionaire Andronico Luksic who died of cancer in 2005 and left his business empire in the care of his wife and three sons. The Luksic family has a worth of $17.4 billion with control of Antofagasta, Quinenco and Plava Laguna. Antofagasta is one of the largest copper mining companies bought by Androminco in 1980. Quinenco is a beverage maker and consumer packaging company while Plava Laguna is a beach resort chain in Croatia. Iris was the second wife of Luksic, a Chilean of Croatian descendent.

Her life came into spotlight in1961 after she married her husband but not much information is available about her as she does not share much of her life with public. During a December 2011 telethon, the usually press averse Fontbona publicly donated $3 million to help Chileans with disabilities.

Alice Walton, born on 7th October 1942, became the third richest women in the world by inheriting the fortune of Wal-Mart stores being the youngest daughter of Wal-Mart founder, Sam Walton and Helen Walton with a net worth of $26.3 billion. She was recognized by the Time magazine as one of the most influential people in 2012. She is a graduate in Economics and Finance form Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas.

She is also involved in various philanthropic activities though her image is marred by her frequent conflicts with law on account of rash driving or drunken driving.

She is the principle shareholder of L’Oreal, one of the world’s largest cosmetics and beauty companies and is listed as the wealthiest woman in the world with a net worth of $30 billion. She was born to Louise Madeleine Berthe and Eugène Schueller on 21st October 1922. She showed her interest in the company by working with her father at the age of 15 as an apprentice and inherited the L’Oreal fortune when her father died in1957.

She is the member of the board of directors of L’Oreal since 1995 along with her daughter Françoise and her daughter’s husband Jean-Pierre Meyers.
